The Bugs in Sight: Bed Bugs Pictures
There are many Bed bugs pictures that you can find on the internet but one thing is for sure: they are really nasty and they can really make your stomach turn, if you imagine them to be drinking your blood. One bed bug might be terrifying but what about several hundred bugs at a time? That could be the most mortifying thing that could happen. Let us take a look at the Bed bugs pictures of the adult bug as well as the life stages of these nasty critters.
Adult
These have a reddish brown color with an oval shape, but generally flat. They are wingless and they move using their legs. The bugs have microscopic hairs and these hairs give a banded appearance. The adult bed bugs can grow from 4 to 5 mm in length and the width can be from 1.5 to 3 mm.
Nymph
These newly hatched insects have a translucent color. They typically have a light brown tint that darkens as they grow older. They molt in order to shed their smaller, old skin and this is a sign of maturity of the bed bugs. Bed bugs are very different from booklice and carpet beetles.
Feeding
If you look at Bed bugs pictures, you will see that the bug’s mouth is like a hypodermic needle that contains two cavities. One releases a chemical that numbs the skin surface that makes it difficult for the host to feel that they are being bitten. The other cavity connects to the digestive tract of the bed bug and sucks in the blood. The bodies of bed bugs can expand and this allows them to get as much blood as they can before they retire. Understanding how the bed bug looks does not make it less creepy; nonetheless, it gives you an idea of how they survive and how to identify them.
